Mindemoya

Silverwater is located on the western part of Manitoulin Island. It is about five minutes from Misery Bay Provincial Nature Reserve and roughly ten minutes from Sheshegwaning. This small community boasts two churches (Anglican and United), a restaurant that serves many local delights, and a community hall. The community hall hosts many fish frys throughout the summer, and the United Church also has one of the oldest running annual picnics in Northern Ontario, dating back 114 years.

Recently the government dock in Silverwater, known as “Cooks Dock” was upgraded and can accommodate boaters who wish to stop in the area. Silverwater is also home to the Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother M’Nidoo M’Nissing Protected Area which is managed by the Nature Conservancy of Canada and Ontario Parks.
