Sheshegwaning First Nation is located on the western part of Manitoulin. It is the neighbouring community to Zhiibaahassing First Nation and has a full service gas station/convenience store (which also features a gift shop called “Our Creations), a public library, and a health centre. The community features Nimkee's hiking trail, which is just over 20 km long as well as picturesque views of the North Shore. Sheshegwaning is also home to the famous “Nishin Eco-Lodge” which is equipped with three bedrooms with queen size beds, a sub divided loft with four beds, a sauna, hot tub, two bathrooms and a sitting area. The lodge, which can be booked through the Great Spirit Circle Trail also facilitates guided trail walks, cultural presentations and craft making sessions.
Sheshegwaning also hosts a powwow during the third weekend in June. This event draws tourists from all over the world, who come to experience First Nations tradition at it’s best.
