Kagawong is located along Highway 540 and is part of the billings township. Its population of approximately 600 people gives prospective tourists a lot for their buck. Established in 1888, the quaint town of Kagawong “where mists rise from falling waters” features the world famous Bridal Veil Falls, a stunning chocolate factory, the transportation and communication museum, a wonderful fish and chip stand, and a beautiful sandy beach. Other attractions include exceptional fishing spots, challenging hiking trails, and several retail outlets.

BRIDAL VEIL FALLS
This trail is located on hwy 540 at the entrance to Kagawong. A picnic area at the top of the falls leads down to
the base of the falls and the trail follows both sides of the stream to the bay. Take a dip in the falls and take
the walking tour of the old town. Allow 1 to 2 hours.
CYCLING ON MANITOULIN
Manitoulin Island's picturesque back roads are popular with cyclists. Vehicle traffic is generally light, although
cyclists are warned to let ferry traffic get well ahead of them on Highway 6, and to watch out for unique features
like logging trucks, slow-moving farm vehicles, and the occasional cattle drive and yes, we have hills!
At least two require caution going down and considerable stamina going up. One Highway 6, at Ten Mile Point, the
hill going south is 1620 m (5500 ft) long with a 5% grade. On Highway 540, the east side of the West Bay/M'Chigeeng
hill is 900m (3000 ft) long with a 5 - 8% grade. Between West Bay and Kagawong there are four hills with an 8% grade
of 300 m (900 ft), 360 m (100 ft), 423 m (1200 ft), and 540 m (1400 ft) respectively.
